I love the beach.
Whether it be the blue Panama City Beach waters, the waters from Gulf Shores, Alabama, or the brownish-green waters from close to home…Bolivar Peninsula…and Galveston Island; I LOVE the beach.
There is something so freeing about sitting on the beach, watching the tides roll in and out, listening to the wind and the surf…
looking for seashells…
This past weekend we went to Crystal Beach on Bolivar Peninsula. It’s close to home. It’s not blue waters. It’s not sugar-white sand. But, it is home. It is the beach. It is the sand and surf…and…it is freeing. Amazingly enough, even though the waters are not famed for their azure color, the beach has a beauty all its own. Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island beaches are like diamonds in the rough. The value is still there. The beauty is there. The purpose is there. The beauty is all its own. It is actually unique. These ole’ muddy Gulf waters are unique.
Living so close to the gulf brings dangers all their own…namely hurricanes. Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island has had its fair share of disaster and tragedy. But…in the South, we come out fightin’…and so have our beaches. We are on an upswing. So…check it out from time to time…
find the beauty in our diamond in the rough.
